The Beethoven International Piano Competition was first founded in Austria more than 50 years ago. It is Austria’s oldest international piano competitions and ranks among the most renowned music competitions in the world today. In 2022, Joyeux Music International presented the first-ever Beethoven International Piano Competition in Singapore! This competition will be organised as a bi-annual event. The 2nd Beethoven International Piano Competition will be held in 2024.
The 1st JMI Beethoven Piano Competition (Singapore) was organised to encourage and foster a high standard of piano playing and understanding of Beethoven works in the 21st century musical world. This competition is opened to pianists of all nationalities from the age of 9. There is no upper age limit. We received about 40 applications from 13 countries in the Piano Solo and Concerto categories. The focus on Beethoven’s works require competitors in these categories to compete with repertoire for TWO rounds.
