SHINE! Concerto in Perspective VI will open for application in October 2027. As the organizers prefer to make selections based on the quality of the soloists, the application will close on 31 March 2028, or when up to 5 performers have been selected and confirmed, whichever is earlier.  Applicants can send in their audition videos via the online form for the next concert in June 2028.

Soloist Eligibility


SHINE! Concerto in Perspective IV provides the opportunity for developing soloists who have learnt at least one concerto in their repertoire to apply. This programme aims to provide soloists with the experience in performing with a symphony orchestra, with the goal of building their portfolio and experiences.  Performers will gain the much needed orchestral experience and opportunity to perform with an orchestra at reasonable course fees.  The performance training programme aims to develop talented and advanced soloists who are working towards future competitions, college auditions and musical careers.  Applicants are expected to prepare at least ONE concerto from the concerto list below. Applicants must be at least 12 years old.  There is no upper age limit.

Voice major may apply.  The terms and conditions will apply, similar to any instrument.   

SHINE! Concerto in Perspective is ideal for
·       soloists aspiring to perform with an orchestra;
·       soloists preparing for competitions or auditions;
·       musicians building their portfolios and seeking artistic development opportunities;
·       soloists who have learnt new concerto repertoire and looking for performance opportunities; and
·       soloists interested in receiving expert coaching to perform with an orchestra.​

Concerto Curriculum for Soloists 

The programme consists of TWO main artistic modules for the soloists.  All soloists have the option to decide if they wish to proceed to the second module. The course fees are separate.

Module 1: The Challenge of the Concerto

All participants selected from the video audition will receive training on studying the Concerto.  This module includes masterclasses and  the opportunity to rehearse and practice with a chamber group. The training environment is conducive of which playing from memory is not compulsory. The main course components are: 

  • Course work on analysing and understanding your concerto (Group instruction session 60 mins).

  • 1 Rehearsal with Orchestral pianist and Conductor (45 mins)

  • 2 Masterclasses (2X45 mins) with appointed instrumental professor, with Orchestral piano accompaniment.   At least ONE movement, or up to a full length concerto can be covered. 

  • 2 Rehearsals with Piano Sextet (2X30 mins) and conductor

Module 2: Performance of the Concerto

Soloists will trained with the privileged to perform a movement or more (of up to 20 minutes of performance time) at SHINE! Concerto in Perspective V in 2025.  The repertoire must be performed from memory and of a high professional standard. 

  • 2 Rehearsals with Joyeux Sinfonietta (2X30 mins)

  • 1 Masterclass with appointed Professor (45mins)

  • 1 Full dress Rehearsal at Victoria Concert Hall (30 mins)

  • Performance June 2026  (venue to be announced and confirmed)

  • Each performer will receive a Professional Video recording of their performance at the concert.

  • Certificate of Award of Concerto Artist 

How to Apply:

  1. SHINE! Concerto in Perspective IV is open to soloists of all nationalities from the age of 12, with no upper age limits. 

  2. Preliminary audition is via video recording.  Due to the limited slots and availiability of the nature of the event,  the organisers have the rights to make decisions based on the standard and quality of the submitted videos. 

  3. Applications is based on a first come first serve basis.  The application will close when 8 promising soloists have made commitment to the fees and the terms of participation or on by 31 March 2026. 

  4. No change to the Concerto is allowed once the application is received along with payment of audition fees of S$150.  ​​

  5. The organising committee will contact all selected soloists and their curriculum vitae will be published on the website.  

  6. All participants who qualify will pay the total course fee of S$2800

Video Requirements

  1. All participants will audition by sending in a Youtube link or Vimeo link. No other format will be accepted

  2. The duration of the recording should be between 10 to 15 minutes, either a movement of a concerto or more movements up to the time limit.  

  3. The recording must feature the soloist, accompanied by a second piano, a chamber group or an orchestra.  

  4. The camera shot must be stationary throughout the recording with the performer in view throughout.  

  5. Playing from memory for the audition is preferred, but not compulsory.  

  6. The recordings submitted should be recent and not more than 6 months from the closing date.
