Competition Results Announcement
LIVE and ONLINE ENTRIES: It is an honour for us to present the results of the 2nd Edition of the Chopin International Piano Competition (Singapore) 2026. The jury’s deliberations were by no means straightforward. With participants across multiple age categories, as well as both LIVE and ONLINE entries, careful consideration was required to ensure fairness and consistency in evaluation.

BOSENDORFER THE OFFICIAL PIANO: As the LIVE candidates performed on the Bösendorfer concert grand piano, the jury placed particular emphasis on pianists who demonstrated refined sensitivity to tone colour and sound production, bringing out the distinctive character of Chopin’s music.  We were delighted to welcome a strong and diverse group of pianists from different countries. The competition featured a wide range of repertoire and artistic approaches, including a performance of one of Chopin’s piano concertos.

CONTROVERSY OF RECORDED WORKS: In the course of deliberation, the jury also noted the inherent differences between LIVE and ONLINE submissions. While LIVE candidates perform their programmes in continuity under competition conditions, ONLINE participants have the options of multiple takes and re-recordings. The jury further observed that some recordings were submitted from different periods and conditions, and were not always specifically prepared for this competition.

HOW PRIZES ARE AWARDED: The jury has unanimously agreed that LIVE contestants should not be disadvantaged in the final outcomes. Prize awards have therefore been made to the top performers based on overall artistic merit and performance quality.

CONCERT AWARDS: As part of our continued commitment to providing meaningful performance platforms, Joyeux Music International will invite two highest scoring pianists—nominated by the jury—to perform solo works at Shine! Concerto in Perspective V, to be held at the Victoria Concert Hall on 24 June 2026. Concert awards cannot be exchanged for cash or other awards.

We extend our warmest congratulations to all participants for their dedication and artistry, and our sincere appreciation to the distinguished jury for their invaluable contributions.
