Programme Focus

As an Authorised Diploma Training Center, this course programmes is designed based on the ABRSM Diploma in Music Teaching examination syllabuses.  The scope includes: 

  • Clear and systematic activity based pedagogy programme

  • Mentorship in preparing student groups or community groups for performance

  • Analytical reflection and effective pedagogical decision-making

  • Competence in coaching both individual students and ensemble groups

  • Music educators are taught through a milestone-based framework with modules combining lectures and tutorials in instrumental teaching, music theory, music arrangement and conducting.

INTAKE
​Programmes are released in limited intakes to maintain a focused and high-quality learning environment. Admission is selective to ensure readiness for diploma-level training. The curriculum is a full 9-month programme, running from October to September of the following year (March 2027 - February 2027), with breaks in December and June.

Joyeux Music Pedagogy Academy addresses a longstanding gap in the professional development of instrumental teachers, band and ensemble coaches. While performance qualifications remain the dominant benchmark in Singapore, structured pedagogy training has been largely absent.

Beyond individual instrumental teaching, this programme extends to include ensemble-based pedagogy, rehearsal techniques, and applied musicianship — preparing educators to work confidently across individual, group, and ensemble settings.- with preparing performances and competitions. Suitable for coaches of music ensembles, school bands and chamber groups.

The programme is supported by specialist faculty in selected areas of training.
Ensemble-based pedagogy and conducting practice modules are delivered with input from experienced practitioners, providing participants with practical insights into rehearsal direction, group coordination, and musical leadership in ensemble settings.

This course prepares candidates adequately for submission of video works, case studies and written reflections required in ARSM and LRSM
