AURAL WORKSHOP

The Aural Training Workshop is designed to strengthen musicians’ listening skills and deepen their understanding of musical structure through active listening and practical exercises. Led by Josephine Koh, the workshop focuses on developing the ability to hear and recognise important musical elements that form the foundation of musical interpretation and performance.
Participants engage in guided exercises that train the ear to identify:
• melodic patterns and musical phrases
• harmonic progressions and chord structures
• cadences and modulations
• stylistic characteristics of Classical repertoire

Through these activities, musicians develop instant musical awareness, improving both their musicianship and their ability to learn and interpret repertoire more effectively.  The workshop is particularly valuable for students preparing for music examinations, competitions, and advanced performance studies.
